Can Colloidal Silver cause Argyria?
If gelatinous colloidal silver is used in heavy amount over an extended period of time then there is a possibility that Argyria can develop. This discoloration of skin due to silver is only proven negative association but it is extremely rare. In this phenomenon the silver accumulates under skin and in the tissues which makes the skin blue or grey. This affect of silver is only cosmetic which means that only the skin gets an unappealing color and there is no health risk involved. In the market there are many misleading facts that are deliberate and are devised to scare people away from the use of very effective colloidal silver supplement. Mostly the claims are made to keep the antibiotic industry in affect. the FDA that regulates drugs and supplements has a ?talk paper? in which it states that the gelatinous silver solutions contain silver ingredients or silver salts, such as mild silver protein, silver proteins, silver chloride, silver iodide and strong silver proteins have caused Argyria. These claims are correct and it is our belief that the products that use gelatinous/protein, nitrate, saline or such ingredients can lead to Argyria. As we have discussed before that Argyria is an extremely rare phenomenon but in an anti colloidal silver propaganda only a few cases of Argyria are repeated again and again to keep the silver products off the shelves. In 1950s a women developed Argyria by consuming massive amounts of silver nitrate over extended periods. Another case is of a man who made a product in tap water by adding salts to it and used it for very long period of time. After very long period of time the silver keeps residing in tissue and under the skin and makes the color grey tint or blue. Now if we look closely at each of these examples that we are told, we will find out that none of them used silver in de-ionized water. Many people including me have taken silver colloid in a de-ionized water solution, in rather high amounts for several years now and there is no such thing as discoloration of skin. In-fact, what is really noticeable is that the illness has gone quite far away from all such people who use the proper silver supplements and even if they get sick, the effectiveness of the disease is only mild as compared to people who don?t use it. It is uncertain why FDA is spreading the misinformation about the silver products. They simply ignore that many of the silver products may contain the gelatinous base with high ppm concentrations but there are some products that are very effective and completely safe. The reason why these products have high ppm is that when the silver particles are large a higher amount of these particles have to be suspended in a gelatinous base otherwise they will fall out if water base is used. To be effective a large amount of silver particles is used. FDA is right about these products as to be dangerous for the skin but our products on the other hand have very small particles suspended in a water solution and provide same effectiveness. These products have low ppm as well. Advanced colloidal silver has distilled water and trace mineral and contains no salt, iodine, protein, gelatinous or nitrates in it and its safe.
